I am currently looking at the beautifully done Radio Silence / A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore Music. It is a true testament to the misunderstood genre that you thought was so well covered in American Hardcore (it was, except in the documentary that followed).
Where this book wins is the coverage it gives to the often mentioned early days of Black Flag, SSD, Agnostic Front, etc. but also covers more undocumented later bands like Spitboy, Quicksand, and the almighty Los Crudos.
What is this in the middle? A full page pic of a Chain of Strength tie-dye t-shirt?
Tonie Joy quotes?
Swiz!?! They give props to Swiz!?!
This looks so good almost like it was curated by a museum. Then you flip the back and you realize MTV Press funded the whole thing and begin to wonder if that sort of defeats the entire purpose of this book?
Whatever the case, this is maybe the first book on the subject that reaches out to more than just fans of hardcore and makes what many consider an ugly music look totally beautiful.

Another case of MTV trying to get its fingers into any pies they missed out on before.
Harcore is pretty dead if MTV is putting out a book.
Lets all smoke weed and listen to Strife!!!
