Partied: Midnite Till Death

Midnite Till Death No. 15

We already talked about how much we love the Pogo in Togo party a few weeks back. Now there is another free, monthly party at Cake Shop is gives us hope for the Lower East Side.

One Friday Friday night every 30 days or so, host Nicholas Gazin throws this fucked up fiesta of garage rock goodness with an assortment of bands that play the kind of music that pretty much anybody with half a brain can dig. He calls it Midnite Till Death.

We brought our camera along to this last party and took a few shots of New Yorks sloppers Abducteens. A trio who obviously know the difference between The Gories and Willie Dixion but are hellbent on splicing the two together.

Next up for the party, Sept. 19 will feature (among others) The Golden Error. A band that makes us really weepy for the golden days of Gravity Records, Born Against and just a general time when things seemed better in retrospect (but probably sucked nonetheless).
It's free. Don't be a bozo and not go.

The Host. Enjoying himself.

Hex Education Journal Vol. 1 Release Party

How true it is. Our first print issue will be out this Saturday, July 12th and to celebrate, we are going to rage.
Read on for the details.

Hey Hey, My My!
Hex Education Journal Vol. 1 Release

On Saturday July 12th, we celebrate the release of the first print version of Hex Education Journal.

Live Boogie Provided by

!!! Sorceress !!!
!!! Tough Shits (Philadelphia) !!!
!!! Traveling Circle !!!
!!! Whooping Crane !!!

Sorceress
(or The Sorceress Rock n Roll band) are Brooklyn's boogie masters. The quartet celebrates their one year anniversary of creating the kind of musical swagger that early Aerosmith, T Rex, Status Quo or early 70's Stones could pull off. Catch them now before they get on board a magic time machine to tour amphitheaters with The Nuge.

We invited The Tough Shits to play this simply because they look like four crazy mothafuckers that know how to party. That, and they sound like the demo tapes of some magical collaboration between The Boss and The New York Dolls.

If you ever wanted to experiment with hallucinogenics, we would suggest gathering a few really mellow friends, and maybe asking Traveling Circle to play.

Whooping Crane's legacy of Groundhogs/Cream/Blue Cheer heaviness has up to this point gone pretty much undocumented. The simple truth is they were indeed supposed to do the soundtrack to the film version of Hunter S. Thompson's book on the Hell's Angels, but were too busy. So history forgot them, until now!

Tres Hombre DJ Crew all night throw down in the front room

Ace High Jay Diamond (Hex Ed. Journal/Heeb Magazine) psych/soul/heavy/head swirling/mystery ship sailing jams

Party Hard: Pogo in Togo (New York)

The idea of a real party in New York might be a thing of the past. What's fun about getting all dolled up, going to some bar, and pay a ton of money for drinks only to have a bunch of heathens rub up against you? Your last chance to see an experience a real party in NYC might be Pogo in Togo. The night usually consists of music that chances are you have never heard before, and includes mind bending visuals by event coordinator Matthew Carron AKA Your Friend Matthew. Bonus points that it's held on a Tuesday night, the evening to go out with the least chance of douchebag encounters in your future. the sweetest spot of all is it's free.
What else do you need to want to go?
